The tub is engineered around cold: materials that stay tough at freezing, shapes that scoop cleanly, and closures that protect the surface from freezer burn.

The Solution: The Frozen Tub Design Rules
Four rules cover the pint experience:
1. Cold-tough materials, verified at -18 °C Specify polypropylene or cold-grade materials with impact testing at freezer temperature — room-temperature specs fail at -18 °C. The lid perforation, hinge, and rim are the cold-failure points; test them cold.
2. Closure that protects from freezer burn A tight-fitting lid with a good seal (and overcap where needed) prevents sublimation — the ice that forms on the surface of opened product. Freezer-burn protection is the closure s real job.
3. Scoop-friendly geometry Slightly tapered walls with a smooth interior let the scoop release cleanly; square corners trap the last servings. The shape of the tub is part of the serving experience.
4. Frost-resistant presentation Anti-frost coatings or packaging graphics that tolerate condensation keep the tub presentable in the freezer case. The first visual impression at -18 °C is the one that sells.
The Result: From 1-in-8 Tears to 1-in-100
The redesigned perforation and cold-tested film cut lid tears from 12% to under 1%: the brand s review mentions of "hard to open" fell by half, and the "effortless open" feature returned as a positive differentiator. The same cold-impact test is now a release gate for every tub and lid in the line.
